Another legend to retire
In my last post I talked about Shane Warne's retirement. Now Glenn McGrath has followed suit as he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket at the end of the 2007 Cricket World Cup to be played in the West Indies.
McGrath has so far taken 555 wickets and I think he went about his job queitly without drawing headlines in the press. Its good that he will play his last Test before his home crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
It will be a totally different bowling attack when Australia next plays a Test match after
the Ashes series without both Warne and McGrath. I think this will give a chance to other
bowlers especially Stuart MacGill and Brett Lee will now take a more prominent role having
been in the shadow of cricket stalwarts McGrath and Warne so far.
Australia should have prepared for this situation. As an English fan I wouldn't care less but I know the Ashes will be back in the next series at home.

I don't know what you mean Sam by 'Australia should have prepared for this situation'. I don't know of any away Australia could have prepared to replace players of this caliber just like that.
Warne and McGrath are no ordinary bowlers and it will take some time to replace them and also theirs is natural talent which you just can't find easily.
Yes, I can understand some England fans will be happy to face an Australian side without these two but its not a foregone conclusion that England will win just because Warne and McGrath are not in the team.
